وجاء التوقيف بعد شكاية تقدمت بها منظمات حقوقية محسوبة على النظام، على خلفية قيام الأخيرة بانتقاد أوضاع حقوق الانسان في موريتانيا، خلال اجتماع للجنة الافريقية لحقوق الانسان بالعاصمة الغامبية بانجول.
